Christine joined the LHYC board in 2019, bringing her experience from working on other Boards in the past. She understands that our rural youth need a safe space to come for activities, get help with their homework and to be with their friends. She is a kind and creative woman, eager to work with her community to make people feel less isolated. Christine believes in engaging with youth and helps develop their baking skills with our monthly Unbirthday program.

Corrie joined the LHYC board in 2023 to apply her expertise in insurance and finance. She was born and raised in Lanark Highlands and belonged to the church youth group and 4H as a youth and  through these groups she learned the importance of having positive support in place for our youth. The old saying “it takes a village to raise a child” holds more truth today in this information age and Corrie sees value in providing a positive environment that gives our youth the support and resources they need to thrive and be happy.

Helping Rayna, Woodworking

Warren started with the LHYC as the Executive Director in 2012 

( and served until December 2021) after working with Scouts Canada. Warren has been interested in supporting youth his whole life, acquiring skills in non-profit operations, finance and planning along the way. He is trustworthy and straightforward and enjoys connecting with his community. Warren believes that youth interest and engagement are essential and that the LHYC is a supportive place where youth can be themselves.

Exercise and Well-Being

Shannon joined the LHYC board in 2018 to assist with her knowledge in program and financial management. She has a deep passion for exercise and well-being including cycling, hiking and kayaking. Shannon recognizes that youth today face unique challenges and is eager to help foster abilities and skillsets to overcome these challenges.
She strongly believes that Youth Centres are a crucial institution that provide a secure haven for youth to explore their passions, develop essential life skills and forge meaningful connections with their peers.

Baseball, Hunting

Michelle is like the energizer bunny! She started at the Lanark Highlands Youth Centre in September 2010, where she worked for 10 years as the Program Manager. Michelle believes in the LHYC and the work that youth centres do because she has seen first hand the benefits youth centres provide to local communities.

Favourite Hobbies:

Being Outdoors

Howard is a black belt in Martial Arts and has experience in construction. He believes in the fair treatment of everyone and that the youth are our future. Howard enjoys his role within the LHYC because it allows him to bridge the gap between authority figures and youth. Howard believes that the LHYC is important to our community and that it is a place that strives to  promote fairness, respect and inclusion of all persons

Favourite Hobbies:

Gardening

Jeannie first got involved with LHYC as a parent when her daughters were participants, she later became a member of Council in 2014, and joined the LHYC board of directors at the end of 2022. Jeannie believes everyone has a part to play in keeping their community thriving, and sees a benefit to knowing that our youth have a safe space and can be involved with other community groups. She brings expertise and experience in listening to all sides of an issue giving everyone a chance to be heard and advocating for safe places where youth can engage together.
